Wheelchair Women

V. C. Andrews, the American writer of many well known books including 'Flowers in the Attic', 'Petals on the Wind' and 'If There Be Thorns' was confined to a wheelchair for most of her life following a fall in her teenage years. She became a commercial artist and portrait painter after a four year correspondance course.

It was not until her mid-50s that her first novel was published. From then until her death, aged 63, She was a prolific writer in spite of suffering from severe arthritic pain.
